August 6, 2026 – Seyfarth Shaw LLP continues to extend its litigation and investigations platform with the addition of nationally recognized trial lawyer Nathan Muyskens as a partner in Washington, DC. Muyskens will serve as co-chair of Seyfarth’s White Collar practice and as a key member of the firm’s national Trial team.
Muyskens’ arrival at Seyfarth follows months after another preeminent trial lawyer, Marc Mukasey, moved to Seyfarth along with partner Torrey Young and the rest of their litigation boutique, Mukasey Young.
Earlier this year, Jennifer Serafyn, the first and only chief of the Civil Rights Unit at the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, and Mhare Mouradian, a top commercial litigator in Los Angeles, also joined Seyfarth as Litigation partners.
Muyskens focuses on white collar criminal defense, government investigations, complex commercial litigation, and regulatory enforcement matters. He represents corporations, financial institutions, boards of directors, senior executives, and other high-profile individuals in sensitive investigations and disputes involving the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, Congress, and other domestic and international regulators. His matters often involve significant reputational, operational, and business risk, including antitrust, sanctions, cybersecurity, market manipulation, internal investigations, and parallel civil proceedings.
“Nate’s arrival is another significant step in strengthening what has become one of the nation’s premier litigation, investigations, and trial platforms,” said Lorie Almon, chair and managing partner of Seyfarth. “As clients face increasing regulatory scrutiny, reputational challenges, and high-stakes disputes, Nate’s experience and judgment will further enhance our ability to deliver the nuanced counsel and exceptional courtroom advocacy on which they rely. Nate has built an exceptional practice with a proven ability to guide clients through their most consequential investigations, enforcement actions, and business challenges. Following the addition of Marc Mukasey and the Mukasey Young team, bringing a lawyer of Nate’s caliber to the firm further accelerates our momentum and reinforces our commitment to strategic growth in the markets and capabilities important to our clients’ business.”
“Nate is a trusted trial lawyer with experience handling some of the most consequential disputes and investigations facing businesses today,” said Giovanna (“Gina”) Ferrari, national chair of Seyfarth’s Litigation department. “His arrival strengthens a core strategic priority for our department: building a market-leading platform for complex litigation, white collar defense, investigations, and crisis management. Nate complements the investments we’ve made across our litigation bench as we continue to bolster our bench of litigators that serve clients confronting critical legal and reputational challenges and brings experience that will benefit clients facing government scrutiny.”
Muyskens joins Seyfarth from Greenberg Traurig LLP, where he served as co-chair of the firm’s White-Collar Defense & Investigations Practice. Earlier in his career, he held several public service roles, including Associate Independent Counsel, Trial Attorney in the FTC Bureau of Competition, and Counsel to US Senator Robert J. Dole.
“Seyfarth offers the collaborative platform and depth of talent that clients need when facing complex investigations and high-stakes disputes,” said Muyskens. “I’m excited to work with colleagues across the firm to continue to build a premier white collar and investigations practice and to help clients navigate their most critical matters.”
“Nate is a fantastic lawyer who delivers exceptional results for clients in the most difficult, high stakes matters,” said Mukasey, co-chair of Seyfarth’s Trials practice group. “We’ve had some terrific victories together, and I’m thrilled to be partnering with him again. Just as importantly, he’s a terrific colleague and team player, and I know he will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our firm.”
Muyskens, from his Washington base, will co-chair Seyfarth’s White Collar practice and help expand Seyfarth’s commercial litigation, white collar, investigations, and crisis management capabilities in the nation’s capital and across the firm’s national platform. His practice also aligns with Seyfarth’s strengths in securities, compliance, cybersecurity, trial work, and industry-focused litigation.
“Washington is a critical market for clients navigating government investigations, enforcement actions, regulatory scrutiny, and business-critical disputes,” said Christa Dommers, managing partner of Seyfarth’s Washington office. “Nate’s arrival deepens our capabilities in these areas and further strengthens our ability to serve clients from the nation’s capital while leveraging Seyfarth’s national platform.”
Muyskens earned his JD from the University of Kansas School of Law and his BA from the University of Virginia.
